about

'Voice has long circulated through James’ work and it’s moving to hear him orient this collection around his own.

A different kind of revelation. Melody is a guiding light, even when we get the sense that he’s not singing to us or at us, but rather to himself. Drafty mumbles made rhythmic or some unfinished thought gone rogue into lyric.

And with these synths it just fits, like in “BW” where that languorous line just demands a spot of crooning, or the intertwined “soldit” that’s woven bits patchwork something curious: shoulder to shoulder. An album of absolute earworms, stuck and musty and cycling.'
